The Mazda EZ-60 has made its official debut at Auto Shanghai 2025. Although the electric SUV was unveiled online a few weeks earlier, this showcase confirms key details—including a 600 km BEV range, plug-in hybrid option, and high-tech cabin—after weeks of speculation.
The EZ-60, Mazda’s second China-exclusive EV developed with Changan Automobile, is now confirmed as a direct rival to the Tesla Model Y, with a sleek design, rear-wheel-drive dynamics, and a futuristic interior featuring a massive 5K display.

2025 MAZDA EZ-60
Confirmed details vs. earlier speculations
On 11th April, we had shared that Mazda EZ-60 would share underpinnings with the Changan Deepal S07 and offer an 80kWh battery with around 474 km (CLTC) range. Mazda’s official release now confirms:
- Longer range: The BEV model targets ~600 km per charge (likely under CLTC), while the PHEV variant exceeds 1,000 km combined between fuel stops.
- Performance tweaks: While power figures are still pending, Mazda emphasises a 50:50 weight distribution, adaptive dampers, and “Jinba-Ittai” handling—a signature focus for the Japanese brand.
- Tech onslaught: The cabin debuts a 26.45-inch ultra-wide display that starts where a normal screen would and takes up two-thirds of the front-passenger dashboard. It’s certainly not as seamless a design as the Mercedes MBUX Hyperscreen or the Honda-e’s five-screen dashboard, but it is a key attraction nonetheless. It also gets a 3D head-up projection, and a 23-speaker audio system with headrest-specific sound zones for the front seats.
- Advanced autonomous capabilities: The EZ-60 includes Intelligent Drive Assistance with features like emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. Voice-Operated Intelligent Parking lets you park remotely, and the Smart Cabin responds to voice, touch, or gesture. A 3D Heads-Up Display projects key driving info in the driver’s line of sight.
Design: more Mazda, less Changan
As previewed, the EZ-60 borrows cues from Mazda’s Arata Concept, with aerodynamic hood vents and a coupe-like silhouette. The press release highlights “FUTURE + SOUL x MODERN” styling, distancing it from its Changan platform-mates. A question that remains – will it be offered in Mazda Soul Red?
Will it head west?
The Mazda EZ-60 is yet to be confirmed for a global rollout. Rumours suggest it could be rebadged as the Mazda CX-6e for select markets, but nothing has been locked in. For now, it’s a China-first affair. If successful in China, Mazda may fast-track exports to Europe or Australia, where the Model Y dominates.
Still, the EZ-60 offers a preview of what Mazda could deliver globally as it preps a new EV platform and production facilities for 2027. With a Mazda CX-5-sized electric SUV in the pipeline, Mazda’s EV momentum is just getting started.
