The new and improved Tesla Model Y ‘Juniper’ debuted in January 2025, and originally only the introductory feature-loaded variant prices were revealed for Australia. Now, Tesla has announced the prices for the lower variants, which have also made the long-range Model Y cheaper than before. The Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model now starts at $58,900, while the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is priced from $68,900 — both before on-road costs.
Deliveries for the refreshed Tesla Model Y are set to begin in June 2025.
Breaking down the price changes
Tesla’s pricing adjustments come with some notable differences. The RWD model now costs $3000 more than its pre-update version, while the Long Range AWD gets a $1000 price drop, making it the most competitively priced model it has ever been. These standard variants are $4500 cheaper than the Launch Series editions introduced earlier this year.
The highly specced Launch Series models, which featured premium paint, larger wheels, and additional features, have now been replaced by standard variants with 19-inch wheels, a new upholstery design, and the removal of puddle lights.
The pricing summary (Before on-road costs) is as follows:
Model | Price (Before on-road costs) | Change from previous version |
Model Y RWD | $58,900 | +$3,000 |
Model Y Long Range AWD | $68,900 | -$1,000 |

Additionally, Tesla Australia ensures the battery will maintain at least 70% of its original capacity throughout the warranty period.

New Model Y vs Rivals
With these updates, the Tesla Model Y is well-positioned to compete against rivals like the XPeng G6, Deepal S07, and Kia EV5. Its pricing, advanced features, and improved performance make it a compelling choice for Australian EV buyers.
