The refreshed 2025 Tesla Model Y, known as ‘Juniper’, will make its first public appearance in Australia this weekend at Sydney’s Everything Electric show. Visitors to the event will get the chance to view Tesla’s updated best-seller in person ahead of the updated electric SUV reaching showroom floors here.

The event, held at Sydney Showground from Friday, 7 March to Sunday, 9 March, will also feature the Tesla Cybertruck. The polarising electric pickup is returning to Sydney after a 10-month tour across Australia and New Zealand.

2025 Model Y details to know

The facelifted Tesla Model Y was unveiled globally in January and brings a range of updates, including revised exterior styling, an interior influenced by the latest Model 3 sedan, and updated suspension for a more refined ride quality.

Among the notable changes inside the cabin, the drive selector has also been moved to a slider on the central touchscreen. Perhaps the only physical control available to Model Y owners will be the traditional indicator stalk, that too after Tesla faced customer criticism after removing the stalk entirely from the latest Model 3.

The new Tesla Model Y is initially offered in Australia as a ‘Launch Series’ special edition, with prices starting at $63,400 plus on-road costs for the Rear-Wheel Drive variant, and $73,400 plus on-road costs for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive. These trim levels come well-packaged in terms of the comfort features and safety suites which may not be offered as standard on the regular Model Y. As such, the new Model Y is notably pricier than the outgoing version, especially the RWD variant which has already sold out. Customer deliveries for the first units of the Model Y ‘Juniper’ are slated to start in May 2025.
