Mercedes has expanded its Australian lineup with the launch of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE53 Coupe and Convertible. The new model replaces the C43 and E53 coupes and convertibles, bringing fresh performance, updated design, and a refined feature set to the mid-size luxury segment.
Initially launched in February as a coupe-only offering, the CLE53 Convertible has now joined the range, with pricing and specification confirmed. Both variants offer a mix of luxury and performance aimed directly at competitors like the BMW M440i xDrive.

Pricing and positioning
The CLE53 Coupe is priced from $158,900 while the CLE53 Convertible starts at $175,600 (before on-road costs). This places the new AMG model between the outgoing C43 and E53 coupes, with more performance for less cash than the latter.
Model | Price (Before on-roads) |

AMG CLE53 4Matic+ Convertible | $175,600 |
Performance and powertrain
At the heart of the Mercedes-AMG CLE53 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, upgraded from the four-pot engines found in the other CLE trims, producing 330kW and 560Nm, aided by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This setup includes a 15-second overboost function pushing torque to 600Nm, while the integrated starter-generator can provide short bursts of additional power (up to 17kW and 205Nm).

Matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic+ all-wheel drive, the coupe accelerates from 0–100km/h in 4.0 seconds, outperforming the BMW M440i’s 4.5-second claim.
Key performance features include:
- Electric exhaust gas compressor and turbocharger
- Rear-axle steering
- Adaptive suspension
- Speed-sensitive steering
- Enlarged front and rear track for improved stability

Rivals
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE53 replaces both the AMG C43 and AMG E53 two-door models in Mercedes’ line-up, offering a middle ground in performance and pricing. It undercuts the previous E53 by nearly $20,000, while offering improved straight-line performance.
Against competitors like the BMW M440i xDrive – which retails at $136,600 – the CLE53 carries a premium, but also delivers more power, quicker acceleration, and additional standard features, including the AMG Dynamic Plus package.

Customer orders for the Mercedes-AMG CLE53 coupe and convertible are now open at AMG dealerships across Australia. Deliveries are expected to begin in the coming months.
