This section informs our customers at a high level about the kinds of things that are worth thinking about when purchasing a Vitara car.
By 2015 the Vitara was a more city focused SUV. Gone was the hard core off-road ability and in was better on-road manners. For most buyers it was a step in the right direction, the Vitara providing a value-packed proposition in the growing compact SUV space.
And value shines through in the Vitara lineup, which starts with the front-wheel drive RT-S (or GL, as it was known in Queensland) that gets alloy wheels, sat-nav and cruise control.
There's more on offer in the all-wheel drive RT-X (or GLX), including smart key entry, parking sensors and a sunroof.
Throw in some vibrant colours and the Vitara was an appealing proposition.
A 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine gets the job done but needs to be worked to maintain pace on a country road.
The optional diesel is a better bet for touring over longer distances, although they never sold in big numbers (the engine was discontinued in 2018).
Or there is a perky 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbo that adds some fire to the Vitara’s acceleration.
Ultimately it’s value and a reputation for reliability that makes the Vitara such an appealing used car buy.
