Let one of our friendly team know - we might have the perfect car waiting backstage.
Honda is the 7th largest automobile manufacturer in the world and is the second largest manufacturer in Japan behind Toyota and ahead of Nissan.
Honda also has a luxury brand of vehicle marketed separately called Acura in the US.
Honda has always tried to differentiate itself from competitors’ brands by instilling in consumers the amount of technical know-how, engineering and levels of quality that go into each model, helping to explain why some models cost as much as they do. This helps to explain an advertisement that the company released in 2003, called the ‘Cog’. To make the ad, the engineers at Honda constructed a Rube Goldberg Machine (a chain reaction-type machine that intentionally performs a simple task in an overly complicated way) made entirely out of car parts from the Honda Accord.
The ad depicted a single cog which sets off a chain of events that ends with the Honda Accord moving and a voice-over stating: “Isn't it nice when things just... work?” Reportedly, it took 606 takes to get it perfect. Watch it here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ve4M4UsJQo)
Good news for Honda owners is that the company’s claims appear to help hold the value of its vehicles in the used car market.
That reputation for quality is apparent in the US where only Toyota’s Corolla exceeds the Civic as the longest continuously running model from a Japanese manufacturer.
