It took some work to get there, but the Colorado in its final post-2016 iteration was a decent ute.
That big diesel engine was a real asset, with its stump-pulling levels of torque and strong power. It just tended to get noisy doing it. The ride was also a bit coarse on the rough stuff.
One 4x4 system difference to many rivals was the fitment of a limited slip rear diff rather than a locker. While at a bit of a disadvantage in extreme off-road conditions it was a boon when the going got slippery on gravel or wet bitumen.
Inside, the Colorado presentation was straight forward and it benefitted from a big cabin that delivered lots of space in the rear seat
