Nissan Navara 2024 Review: Redefining Ute Performance and Comfort!
Nissan is often seen as this sophisticated car maker which looks down upon those off-roading vehicles. To many people’s surprise and to leave many people perplexed, Nissan doesn’t shy away from getting their hands dirty. What comes from japanese expert craftsmanship and rugged Australian terrains and demands to overcome them? A beast that is set to take up all that you can throw at it. Today’s review is all about the Nissan Navara 2024. We’ll answer some of the more pertinent questions like ‘What does it do well?’, ‘What can be improved?’, and most importantly, ‘What can it not do?’
Pros:
- One tonne payload capacity is absolutely impressive.
- Build quality of the car is exceptionally well. No wonky pieces moving unnecessarily.

- No cabin noise, the cabin is quite comfortably quiet.
Cons:
- No plastic cladding or payload door lip atop of it.
- Underwhelming interiors with lots of rough touchpoints.

- Upholstery has improved significantly
Nissan Navara 2024 goes onto rival some of the strongest in the segment utes such as the Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton and Toyota Hilux. However, each of these cars have a ultimate variant like the Ranger Raptor, the Triton Ultima and Hilux RuggedX, for which Nissan has launched the Nissan Navara Warrior and Nissan Navara Pro 4X which is an optional variant of the Navara and not covered in this review.

Exteriors
Styling Elements
Unlike the overused chrome elements in the lower level variants, you’ll see how Nissan Navara Pro-4X has done away with the chromes and just solid colouring now fashions the new Navara. The front grille has been updated to accommodate a greater air flow and upon the grille sits the ever so elegant Nissan logo.
The Nissan Navara 2024 has a unique headlight design, something resembling 4 cubes which are entirely LED and it is circum-navigated by LED DRLs. There is a fog light panel which is too big and unnecessary. The light itself is about less than half of a half of the entire socket, seems like a waste of good space. Additionally, it is nice to see that there are makers who stil believing in going all out in terms of technology and electrical use. The tail lights are also LED which is something we don’t usually see in utes. However, given the sophisticated nature of Nissan, it should be expected and they’ve delivered well.
Colour Options
The Nissan Navara 2024 is offered to the consumers in 8 vibrant colours. Each colour is standard to their variants. Choosing an additional colour will be chargeable.
Following are the colours of Nissan Navara 2024 - Solid White (QM1) | Black Star (G42) | Burning Red (AX6) | Twilight Grey (K21) | Brilliant Silver (K23) | White Pearl (QX1) | Forged Copper (CAU) | Stealth Grey (KBY)
Wheel Design
The Nissan Navara 2024 has 4 different types of wheel design for all the variants. Each one is upgradeable except the top level which is reserved for Pro-4X.
- Navara SL - 17-inch steel wheels
- Navara ST- 17-inch alloy wheels
- Navara ST-X - 18-inch alloy wheels
- Navara Pro-4X - 17-inch black PRO-4X Alloy Wheels with All Terrain tyres
Interiors
Interior Layout & Space
The cabin hasn’t had a major upgrade. Infact apart from some trims here and there, the interior of the Navara is absolutely identical to its older version and almost the entire range of the new Nissan Navara 2024 is identical to Nissan Navara Pro-4X.
To mention some lighter points of the Nissan Navara, there is ample storage space within the cabin, including the centre console, the glove box, the doors can easily accommodate your bottles and all that necessary items you’d need but never use.
The good thing about the second-row is that if you lift the seat up, you’ll expose furthermore storage space. Apart from that, the second-row is reasonably spaced out. There is ample kneeroom and headroom however, the toeroom is something you’ll have to get used to overtime.
Comfort & Ergonomics
The seats of the Nissan Navara 2024 are also variant wise based. The best part is that each upholstery is designed to provide maximum comfort even in case of prolonged occupancy. Following are the upholstery you get with Nissan Navara 2024
- Nissan Navara 2024 SL & ST - Cloth seat trims
- Nissan Navara 2024 ST-X - Leather accented trim
- Nissan Navara 2024 Pro-4X - Leather accented PRO-4X trim
Payload Bay
The tailgate has a torsion bar built into it which makes opening and closing the tailgate easy. This is a small feature but absence is felt almost everyday. Apart from that, the dimension of the payload bay is 1469mm in length, 1560mm in width, 1134mm wide between the wheel arches.
Apart from that the payload capacity of the Nissan Navara 2024 is around a tonne. The car can tow upto 3.5 tonnes and can carry a tonne in and on itself. It is absolutely bonkers.
Technology & Infotainment
Nissan is quite famed for its technology aspect. They’ve always thought of driver centric technology ideas which aren’t flashy but extremely effective. Over time they’ve developed a comprehensive list of intelligent features which makes driving a Nissan Navara as smooth as a breeze.
Technology Features of Nissan Navara 2024
- Intelligent Emergency Braking

Performance & Engine
This aspect of the Navara is pretty undermined. There single engine option is not gaining any points for the Navara but the power is not half bad when actually on the road. You’ll notice how easily manoeuvrable this ute is in comparison to its competitors.
Engine Specifications
Variant | Power | Torque | Engine Configuration |
---|---|---|---|
SL | 187 Bhp | 450 Nm | 4cyl 2.3L Turbo Diesel |
ST | 187 Bhp | 450 Nm | 4cyl 2.3L Turbo Diesel |
ST-X | 187 Bhp | 450 Nm | 4cyl 2.3L Turbo Diesel |
Pro-4X | 187 Bhp | 450 Nm | 4cyl 2.3L Turbo Diesel |
Transmission & Drive System
While the Nissan Navara 2024 comes very standard with a 7 speed sports automatic transmission, Nissan has added multiple driving modes which makes driving the new Nissan Navara ute around easy. The transmission system doesn’t disappoint and serves the 4 driving modes extremely dynamically. The modes are Standard | Sport | Tow | Off-road.
Fuel Economy & Efficiency
The new Nissan Navara economy is a bit tricky to be explained. However, here’s my best attempt for it.
The Manual new Nissan Navaras share the same economy of a decent 7.3 litres for every 100km until it reaches the Navara Pro-4X Manual which sit a bit higher than its cheaper siblings. The Pro-4X has an economy of 7.5 litres for every 100km.
Next up is the Automatic new Nissan Navara. Majorly the variation of the economy is due to the dive type. If the new Nissan Navara is 4-wheel drive then the economy sits highest with 8.1 litres for every 100km and if you choose a RWD Nissan Navara 2024 like the ST and ST-X, you’ll get a better economy of 7.6 litres for every 100km and then something happens which is weird, the cheapest new Nissan Navara with the least amount of features gets a 4WD option and has an economy of 7.9 litres for every 100km.
Handling & Driving Dynamics
Given the engine is bi-turbo engine, the punch on the vehicle is gentle but discernible. The steering is somewhat of a delight given it is different from others in this segment. The steering of the new Nissan Navara is a hydraulic assisted steering unlike the more common APASS or electrically assisted rack. Definitely, you’ll feel a bit of the weight of the steering but it is far lighter and far more tuned than a Hilux.
Another great element of the new Nissan Navara 2024 which makes driving this a fun activity, is the coil sprung rear end suspension. Where most competitors just settle with a leaf spring, Nissan goes onto adjust both the axles with coil suspensions which makes driving the Navara over irregular surfaces absolutely enticing and fun.
Safety Features
The new Nissan Navara has a long long list of safety features. However, this doesn’t cover up the fact that the new Nissan Navara 2024 doesn’t have an official ANCAP report. If that is put on hold, then I believe the list of safety features are ample. Maybe the 7 airbags is one too few than what I’d expect at this price point and in a ute but apart from that the safety features are quite inclusive for driver as well as the occupants.
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Intelligent Lane Intervention (ILI)
- Blind Spot Warning (BSW)
- Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (IBSI)

- Hill Descent Control (HDC)
- Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection (MOD)
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

Crash Test Ratings
The new Nissan Navara doesn’t have an ANCAP rating for vehicles that went on sale post January 2023. The version of Nissan Navara before 2023 enjoys a 5-star rating. We’re yet to see what will be the new ratings for the new car. However, the new Nissan Navara 2024 does come along with its own comprehensive list of safety features and technology that is extremely efficient in times of crisis.

Verdict
That was the review of the new Nissan Navara 2024 and if you’re also at a split end decision, then welcome to the club. I don’t understand the purpose of blank buttons and wasted space in a top specification model. The fog light is no more than 3 inches and the entire socket is over 10-inches, it just infuriating, apart from that, how is it that apart from the top specification variant, heated and ventilated seats are chargeable. Utes should have a certain standardisation to some of the features that are foundational in nature of off-roading and not just the set-up that is off-road compatible.
Apart from that, the Navara looks and feel exceptionally well. The exteriors are well designed and even though there is no major chunk change, you can atleast feel the newness of this ute. While I usually refrain from giving direct verdict because it is necessary for us to consider that price range is something that is necessary to be considered, I believe that Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger still are a better choice at this price and these utes have a better price-to-feature ratio as well.
