Car Quality Standards @ CARS24
At CARS24, ensuring quality is a top priority for us. The cars we offer are pre-owned, and they've had their fair share of adventures on the road. We carefully inspect each vehicle from every angle, identifying imperfections that are typical for a car's age and mileage. While we do our best to spot and document imperfections, not every detail may be captured by the camera. If we don't easily spot an imperfection, we consider it a natural part of a used car's wear and tear and won't specifically repair or highlight it.
CARS24 feels proud that our cars not only pass the RWC (Roadworthy Certificate) tests but are also refurbished further to ensure you will love them. Additionally, we remain committed to your satisfaction by providing servicing within either 3 months or 3,000kms until the next service. To top it off, we offer a generous 3-month complimentary warranty, allowing you to enjoy your ride with complete peace of mind.
Victorian Roadworthy rules, New South Wales RTA Roadworthy rules and Queensland Transport Roadworthy rules supersede any CARS24 internal standards in the relevant jurisdiction.
Below, you'll find our Fair Wear & Tear (FWT) quality standards.
Scratch:
• All scratches that can be removed will be polished out.
• All scratches or plastic trim damages above 5cm will be repaired or reported as an imperfection.
• Total of 10cm of scratches or plastic trim damages on any panel in total is considered Fair Wear and Tear.
Dents and chips: There will be no dent over 0.5cm on any panel, and no panel will have more than 3 dents.
Rims: There will be no gutter rash over 5cm, and no rim will have gutter rash of more than total 20cm.
Windscreen and windows:
• Driver's view through the area covered by the windscreen will not be hindered.
• Windscreens and windows are free from cracks over 5cm or bulls eyes or star fractures over 1cm in a single layer of glass within the area wiped by the wipers.
General damage:
• All damages above 5cm are either repaired or reported as an imperfection.
• There might be some general wear and tear such as light scuffing or marks.
Fittings: Interior fittings such as rear view mirrors, courtesy lights and switches, sun visors and door bins will be free from any damage.
Mats: Floor Mats will not be included by default. In certain instances, the car could have Floor Mats included.
Cleanliness: All cars will be clean, odourless and free from burns and tears.
Lights: All lights and lamps will be completely functional.
Mirrors: All mirrors will be completely functional and free from cracks and distortion.
Audio: All audio equipment(s) will be completely functional and all previous personal data would be reset.
Wiring: All wiring and circuits will be properly connected and concealed.
RWC: The car will adhere to the roadworthy RWC standards across Australia and will be certified by an expert mechanic.
Tyres:
• All tyres will have a minimum tread depth of 1.7mm across the width of the tyre.
• All cars will come with either a spare tyre and jack or a tyre repair kit.
• Each tyre is in line with the manufacturer’s specification (but tyre brands may differ).
Brakes: Brake pads and discs have a minimum pad thickness of 4mm on the front and 3mm on the rear.
Oil: All oils are checked and topped up as needed.
